The 7th edition of the T20 World Cup is set to take place in Australia. Brian Lara, in a recent event, picked India as the favorites to lift the T20 trophy for the 2nd time after their triumph in 2007.
Lara said, “ I think they are capable of winning all the tournaments they play. I think what Virat Kohli and company and Indian team has to appreciate the fact that everybody sort of target India”.
“ Everybody knows that some point of time one team is going to play that important match against India, if its Quarter-final, semi-final, or the Finals,” added West Indies legend.
India has become one of the sides to beat in world cricket at the moment. But one thing that will be worrying them will be the fact that they haven’t won any major ICC events in the last 6 years.
Team India has the highest win percentage for any country over the last decade in ODIs. The thing that will be even more worrying for India and the Indian fans is that even after reaching Finals and Semi-finals of all the OCC events since 2013, they couldn’t win it. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly in a recent interview also has reiterated the point that, its high time that India has to start winning the major tournaments as they have been performing exceptionally well in bilaterals.
India has made the semi-finals of 2015 WC, 2016 T20WC, 2019 WC, and Finals of 2014 T20WC, 2017 CHAMPIONS TROPHY, in short, has made it to the knockouts in all ICC tournaments since 2013 but couldn’t pass the finishing line
